We all know that when it comes to business, setting goals is essential.
Whether it’s to smash a certain revenue, be asked to speak at a famous event or just get your first customer…goals are the life-blood of any business.
Often, it is not the actual act of goal setting that challenges us…it’s the belief that is required to achieve that goal that seems so elusive.
We set the goal and then it sits there, gathering dust on a Pinterest board. Eventually, we forget it even existed, and blame 100 other things other than ourselves for the fact it was never achieved.
Building your belief to the point that you have no doubt in your mind that a goal can be achieved is the holy grail for many female entrepreneurs and business owners…and it’s my mission to help you get there.
Something I want you to consider is that many of you will be already denying yourself of what you want outside of your business.
For me, how you live your life gives me a very good idea of how you will run (or attempt to run) a business.
I work with a lot of women who set amazing goals that I know excites them…so why do they so quickly get put on the back burner?
Here’s an effective strategy you can start to use straight away to build your belief in yourself and to change your psychological paradigm around giving yourself what you want.
Because setting and achieving a goal is exactly that…it’s giving yourself what you want.
Here is the strategy I want you to use…
Step 1 👇
1. Take a look at your life and ask yourself “in what ways am I denying myself of joy in my life right now?”
This could be anything but I’ll give you some examples from my own life when I did this exercise and some common examples I see in my clients.
For me, it was many of the things that represented acts of self-care. Long baths, putting lotion on my body, burning candles, walks in nature. These things bring me joy and relaxation, but they somehow got pushed to the bottom of the pile because they didn’t fit the definition of ‘productive.’
For you it might be denying yourself the chocolate, never going to see live gigs anymore or not opening the damn prosecco because it’s ‘only a Tuesday.’
I would bet everything I own that every single one of you reading this are denying yourself of at least one thing that brings you joy. Why? What for?
This self-inflicted suffering only sends one message home…that you’re not deserving of every single thing that lights you the fuck up!
So if you are denying yourself every day of the things that bring you joy…how can you ever expect to break through a new level of life and hit all those goals you have set?
How can you expect to make $100,000 when you are denying yourself that cookie every day.
Make a list of everything you are denying yourself of right now.
Step 2 👇
Make a conscious effort to increase your joy in whatever capacity you can.
Now that you are aware of your self-denial you can begin to counter it.
Start small…it will feel weird at first.
But like any muscle…using it will strengthen it. Keep a journal of your new journey and note down whenever you were able to deflect an act of self-denial. Maybe you went window shopping just because it makes you feel high vibe or you made yourself a fancy-ass latte when everyone else in the office was making just a plain old black coffee.
Even the smallest acts of self-indulgence are going to start sending a whole new message back to yourself 😍
Step 3 👇
After a few weeks of practising your new level of self-love, sit down and reset your goals.
Notice the difference…now that you are getting used to giving yourself everything you want in life…hitting that sales target or working toward that holiday in the Maldives doesn’t seem so ‘out there’ does it?
I’d love to hear how you get on using this strategy and the difference it makes to you so make sure you comment below if you’re going to implement this 🙌
I promise that you are going to see benefits of this far beyond smashing your business goals, life will take on a whole new meaning. You will feel so full up you’ll be overflowing with love and energy to pour into your dreams 💃
